ESPN needed their online X Games experience to be as awesome and energetic as the games themselves. To make this happen, we revamped their presence through a new website that brought the vigor, risk and hype of the experience to life. Tapping into the core of extreme sports, the daredevil athletes and their fans, we created the Hype Meter, an engaging tool that aggregated hype around the competition in real time. Using specific hashtags, the X Games app or a web module, this online applause garnered huge success – it activated awesome.
Pulling together all of the extreme content surrounding the X Games, we developed an exciting system called Clusters. A unique way to group relevant content surrounding an athlete, event or social trend, Clusters allowed the user to quickly find and explore the specific, awesome content they were looking for.
